K. Wayne currently creates, as he likes to say with a grin, his "surreal art at best", in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where his great big southern smile, quick wit, down to earth candor and ever engaging charm draw you in even before you see his work. Self taught, he was born and raised in Jonesboro Arkansas, planting the seeds for a lifetime love of athletics, "first and foremost baseball", he'll be clear on that. An artist from, "just about birth", he drew what he knew and loved, hunting, fishing, and sports. Nursery rhymes came later when he had his darling little daughter. Then a hiatus, as his career skyrocketed him into an unbelievable life and unimagined success, especially for a poor kid who lived next to the railroad tracks and like his Uncle, the hobos who traveled them. This cemented his deep compassion for those who grew up like he did. "I'll stand up for the little guy every time, without exception."

His art always with him, just simmering quietly on the back burner.  Until years later, when a surprise birthday party and a surprise birthday gift of an art set, along with a plea from that same darling daughter, "please daddy, start drawing again for me",  set the stage for his art to sneak back in. And sneak back in it did, like a freight train! "I like to get in and get out", he'll tell you. Choosing colored markers to get the job done for these both whimsical and intense pieces. From his first work, a request, "no question", would be a watery green stand of cattails, "for my daughter", to a grand and dizzying collection of real and surreal pieces which now includes:  Native Faces, Insects, Cows and Animals, Solider's, Cowboys, Knights Templar and Warriors, Catfish, Bass, lots of Bass, (after his first love, bass fishing), Skeletons, Pumpkins and Ghosts oh my, Aliens and Monsters too, Feathery Birds, Faces with Sunglasses, Friends. And he's just getting started!
